Welcome to Hammarby Fotboll

Hammarby Fotboll is the most popular football club in Stockholm and among the most popular in all of Sweden. The greatness and soul of the Club can be traced back in time all the way to the founding of the original Sports Association in 1897. Central to the Club and to the building of its wide supporter base have been unity, joy and the fostering of athletes, both male and female.

During the years many great football players have come through the ranks and played in the spirit which has been the hallmark of the Club, for example Lennart “Nacka” Skoglund (1929-1975) the winner of two Italian championships, and a World Cup Bronze and Silver medallist in 1950 and 1958 respectively. He was also a world eleven select in 1958, Hammarby players thereby making up half of the four Swedes ever to be selected for the world eleven. The other Hammarby player honoured is Ronnie Hellström, three times a World Cup participant in the seventies and twice the winner of “guldbollen” (The Golden Ball, Swedish Player of the Year award).

The memory of “Nacka” is still honoured every Christmas Eve, on his birthday, when several hundred people meet at twelve a clock at the site of his memorial, “Nackas hörna” (Nackas corner).

The elite operation in Hammarby is conducted within Hammarby Fotboll AB, a shareholder company where 51 percent is owned by Hammarby Fotboll Association and 49 percent by Anschutz Entertainment Group, AEG.
Hammarby Fotboll Association administer its football activities for boys between 6 and 16 years, in 2006 750 youths and 150 coaches where actively engaged. Hammarby place a large emphasis on letting as many as possible play football from an early age, but also important in the clubs philosophy is the developing and nurturing of talents. In 2007 10 of 25 players in the first team squad had passed through some phase of the Hammarby talent development structure.

Hammarby IF Fotbollförening is a part of the Hammarby brand. Hammarby IF conducts sports activities in 16 different associations, among them are activities as diverse as: Handball, Bandy, Track and Field, Ice Hockey and Speedway.
